Medium
Under each medium type will be a selection of pet and family portraits for you to view. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with the different options available.
Graphite
Graphite is a form of carbon that forms naturally within the earths crust and has been a firm favourite with portrait artists for centuries.
Because of the varying degrees of hardness it means the pencil lead can be sharpened to a fine point, making it ideal for detailed artwork. The range and depth of shading achievable lends itself well to family portraits and pets that are black, white or grey in colour.
A finished graphite portrait can often have more impact than one in rendered in full colour.
Coloured pencils
These pencils do not contain any graphite. They are instead made by combining resins, binders, pigments and wax or oil.
Although the leads are generally softer some oil based pencils can still retain a sharp point for finer detail.
A finished portrait in coloured pencil will require layers of different colours and shading to achieve a piece that has depth and contrast. As a result this normally means it will take longer than a graphite portrait.

If there are any pieces in this section you like the look of I would be more than happy to produce something in any medium you fancy.
